My story

From my desk to my first atelier

Abat Jour

I studied at the Enrico Umberto Nordio Art Institute in Trieste, where I learned to observe lines, surfaces, and proportions. After working for a few years as an interior designer, in 2011 I decided to follow a subtler passion: shadow and light.

That’s how my journey as a lampshade maker began — entirely self-taught at first, learning by observing masters and experimenting until I developed my own technique. I opened my first atelier in Udine in 2011 and, after a couple of years, moved it to a more central location to be closer to those who wanted to see and touch my work in person.

Although I work in a small provincial city, one of my greatest satisfactions is welcoming people from all over Europe and sending handcrafted lampshades to different corners of the world. Each lampshade is born from a precise design process — from the sketch to the choice of fabrics and the smallest stitching details. Everything is made by hand, with tailor-made care.

My goal is to create beauty through light — to enrich and decorate not only homes, but also the souls of those who live in them.
